Bad Boy Jesus part 1

"... of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose."
The apostle Paul's address to the Philippians, (Phil.2:2). These words have been like a stain on my brain from when I first heard them.

The call to discipleship was to go in teams of two to make disciples. Disciples are not converts. Discipleship is a lengthy and committed process that people make as a life long journey. The Wham you in the face with the Gospel message and then attempt to convert you to believing something is not what Jesus was inspiring his faithful few to do.

The message of Christ compels us to live in harmony with eachother: eachother meaning all mankind. Mankind meaning everyone, even the people we dont like or aggree with. It means choosing a non-violent response to everyone we come accross... this is what got Christ asasinated. He was an equal rights activists, a radical revolutionary, a "rage against the machine" bad boy for social justice for all. He claimed we are all children of God.

That I can buy into, as challenging at times it can be! We've come so far away from the essence of Christs message and we have institutionalized what it means to be a follower, and the true message of the Gospel has been lost in translation.

The message to the people of Philippi, the "early church" is "to be of the same mind, the same love, united in Spirit, intent on one purpose" Can we not all aggree on the essence of the Gospel.
Whether or not we are Christians? It's the same message consistent with all religions, Do unto others as you would have done to you, turn the other check, love one another, and above all give thanks.

to be continued, when my hand stops hurting. LOL
